Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've posted but i need help in making a decision lol.

I'm thinking about buying a First Act acoustic from Wal-Mart. I've got an Ibanez GRX20 (electric) but i've been wanting an acoustic that i can travel around with and not worry about beating it up. A buddy says that he thinks for that price it will be extremely uncomfortable to play. That's all I'm worried about, if it's comfortable i don't care about anything else. He says the strings will be hard to push down, I don't know. Please give some suggestions on what i need to do smile.gif

o btw, a full size acoustic wink.gif

Here are some links i've found to First Act guitars

Thanks for your help.

i mean its prolly going to be as good as a 79 dollar guitar should be. You can always do some adjustments to make them strings not so hard to push down.

I played with one of those for about 5 minutes, once while waiting for the wife to get through the checkout. It was pretty bad, seriously If you want an acoustic, save up for a decent one.

check pawn shops too. i know mine has some great deals.
Go to alvarezgtr.com and check out theres. i dunno your price range but youll prolly get a decent guitar for about 150- 300. Maybe you should save for an acoustic/electric, they are awesome.

well you get what you pay for so if you look at low end guitars most likely you will get a low end sound i understand a person can't go out and spend $700+ for a guitar but i can imagine a wal-mart guitar sound you might get the same sound if you take a cardboard box a 2x4 and get some cable from a hardware store and try to make your own best thing would be go to a music store and catch a sale or even look on ebay a friend bought a dean guitar for like $68.00 and has decent sound and very playable after he took off the dead strings and got a nice pair of Elixirs

If you want a cheap priced guitar, but comfortable playing and great sound, check out a low end Yamaha such as the F310 i have the FX310 which the only diff. is its acoutic/electric. It has a pretty nice sound, I put Martin strings on it and it plays great. I've had it for 2yrs and i love it. Its great for beginners, and even great for intermediate players.

You might check out the Johnson guitars. They can be found for less than $100 new. They sound good, and stay in tune pretty well. I had one borrowed for a year or so for a second guitar, and it was fine.

It would be an OK starter.

Buy second hand. Honestly, if your looking to get a guitar your not afraid to beat up buy a second hand guitar or one that is allready beat up. I mean if your REALLY lucky you might get a beat up but still playable Gibson acoustic for around 200, 250 dollers.

This applies to guitars as anything else - pay buttons and get chocolate but you needn't pay loads to get something half-decent. I bought my first guitar 3 weeks ago and my question to the bloke in the guitar shop was how come I could get an accoustic for £50 in Argos but his shop had nothing at that price? Go have a strum then come back here he suggested. I did so and then bought from the guitar shop!

The other benefit is back-up. Can you imagine the response if you go back to Walmart with a music based query? Support your local specialist and you'll reap the benefit of their expertise long-term.

Cheers

ok thanks to everyone for helping me, i don't know much about guitars and you guys helped alot. I've narrowed it down to the following, i'm leaning toward the $100 Washburn, but i dunno the Rogue mandolin looks fun.

Washburn D100

Rogue

Johnson JG-610

The Washburn was originally 329.00 i think that's a price for a decent guitar.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!
