i like the wood grain... my taylor has some characteristics like that top (i think it's known as "bearclawing") it's pretty cool, mine has all those "markings" as symmetrical because it's a bookmatched top.

Yes its called bearclaw.I have a bear claw top to go on the 34 jumbo copy im makeing of dadfads guitar. All decent tops should be book matched. If the top is real wood and not ply then its genraly going to be book matched. How ever if your bearclw is symmetrical as well as your grain you have a very good top there.Bearclw does not always run symmetrical even on a book matched top.The grain will but not the bearclaw.I had to search pretty hard for a symmetrical bearclaw top and even the one i have is not absolutly perfect. Its very very close but not perfect. Its a quite sought after figure and tends to go out of stock pretty quick.

Ok I should have titled that, 'unattainable Acoustic Guitar if the Week'. The price on that guitar is $4995. It is a Bourgeois JOMC Deluxe. Dana Bourgeois made his first guitar when he attended College at Bowdoin in Maine a while back since then he has been making some of the finest guitars in the world for some really awesome guitarists. To name a few, Ricky Skaggs, Dan Tyminski, and Sean Watkins from Nickel Creek. Yes for all you nerds out there it is a bearclaw Sitka Spruce top, madagascan Rosewood back and sides, and Capo2nd, the binding is triple bound curly maple! not to be sneered at. haha. To have a closer look got to Pantheon Guitars

dammit if i knew it was that nice, i would have been ten times more careful with it. i have two small dents near the binding close to the end pin.... bloody shame.

4k? The way I do the acoustic of the week is I try to find one guitar that's value for money and something special. That's just showing a guitar for the sake of it, not exactly an "Acoustic guitar of the week".

Sure its a beautifull guitar, and i can picture if having an incredible sound. But i mean come on those marks on it, they look terrible in my view.

To Cortez the Killer, awesome song by the way, you must have heard Dave Matthews and Warren Haynes play it on the Central Park cd, if not check it out, Warren Haynes is the Man! Bear Claw spruce is rare and hard to come by as our esteemed friend from london told us, and yeah it looks a bit weird, kinda like someone hit repeatedly with a stick. hahaha. peace
