I put down my pick and started fingerpicking more than six months ago. I’m self-taught and have my own style and sometimes I start strumming fairly hard with my fingers. It doesn’t hurt at all anymore but I have these dried out blood blisters on my cuticles above my index and middle fingers. I dug them out but it just hurt badly when I played and then they came back. I was just wondering if anyone else ever got these and if they will ever go away.

i've never gotten them, it might be from strumming too hard w/ your fingers. i'm not too sure though.

Yeah I've gotten them before (mostly on my middle finder near the base of the nail). Mine came from strumming down with my fingers and the strings scraping that thin skin in that area. It does go away when you stop playing for a while. It never bothered me enough to keep from playing though.

Yes, that's what they are. Girls are just saying "Ew, whats that?" I'm not planning on stopping for cosmetic purposes though.

I was wondering what a lot of you long-time players thought about things like this.

Ok so I have played enough to have hasty finger tips...does it ever get better, or is there anythign to do differently? I mean hell I get proud when I show them to people...like that one time I crashed my bike...almost like "hey, look what i am doing to my body, for the sake of music.
"I think it shows passion, commitment."<which is also why girls like guitarists>

There is a fine line between insanity and genius and I think i crossed it...but what side I am on is still unclear.

Just be aware of where your fingers are at when you downstrum. If it really bothers you I guess you can bandage it if it won't interfere with your playing.

I used to have them on my thumb. Not anymore though.
