Well,

I had my first lesson last night. Went ok I guess and he'll need a couple of visits to figure out fully where I am so that I can feel I'm moving forwards. I haven't spent the last 5 weeks looking at the thing!

That said, while the majority of the lesson covered things I already knew, I did pick up some guidance on using all 4 fingers when doing scales and arpeggios and we've sorted out a wee problem I had with accidentally muting the 'e' when playing Amaj chords - basically I was cocking my wrist towards the neck and thus bringing the palm of my left hand far too close into the frets.

So, in summary so far. At home, I've been concentrating on learning new 'sounds' - more chords etc but it's important to get technique sorted too. I may take 1 step back in order to take 2 forward.
