Hey Im wondering what everyone’s favourite acoustic piece of music is and whom they think is the best acoustic players,

My favourite acoustic pieces are - Classical Gas (THE Mason Williams one)
Patience (GnR's)

Im not sure about the artist though, dont know that many, and as such would have to say claptons unplugged stuff.

Just interested, Ta

Nick Harper (son of yes) "Catterpillar on a cocoa leaf"

something he recorded for Total Guitar I think, so it's not an album track but I could it upload it somewhere if anyone's interested, it's mad he changes tuning quite a few times whilst playing, and the rhythms are insane, it's like a one man death metal band or something laugh.gif

Honestly,

John Mayer.

He is one of the best, current, acoustic acts.

He can rock an acoustic better than a lot of them.

Hard to choose....there's so many great acoustic pieces and artists.

If I had to choose three from my favorite acoustic guitarist:

John Renbourn, "Seven Up", "Caroline's Tune", and "English Dance".

Eric Johnson's "Song For George" is great. I can;t get it to sound as good as him though sad.gif

There a few Preston Reed songs I think sound great too, but there's no (free) tab. Hehe.
I love Robert Johnson's stuff too. Nice, bluesy, to the bone and raw. And of course Jimmy Page's acoustic stuff is fantastic, especially Going to California and Babe I'm Gonna Leave you.

But there is loads... acoustic is wonderful no matter. Aslong as it's played with soul, man.

Thank you, Troy! Finally someone gives Mayer credit. I really like his acoustic stuff. I think he's an underatted guitarist, big-time.

A lot of people don't like him...but he gives me hope that someone who can't sing can still be a good guitarist and still make good songs!

His voice gets on my nerves sometimes but I am so focused on his guitar playing that I am not listening to anything but the music anyways...

I like him, hate me for it if you will...but he is my new-age idol.

I don't really listen to much acoustic music, but I would have to say that Patience by Guns N Roses is one of my favourite pieces. smile.gif
