Hey,

I use medium Diaggario strings(or something like that)...and I have had my smallest string break 3 times know...It's always the smallest string breaking. This is the second time in maybe 2 months. Im not sure how often they are supposed to break, but I do play quite a bit and I tend to hang around on the smaller strings more when playing certain songs i'm currently working on.

I generally play with my hands. I almost never use a pick....

Any tips?

The high e??? And your using 13's?? If so then very cool.
My high e lasted me a week on the last set i bought. But i do some bends and lots of pulls and hammers. It might be the way your stringing it if it breaks at the tuners, like the string cutting into itself. If it breaks at the bridge try seeing if theres any kind of nick there that could be cuasing it.

If you change tunings alot that can also affect the integrity of the strings and cause them to break prematurely.

change your nut...

or whne putting new strings on tighten them very tightly and leave it for like a day and retighten and leave fore 2 more days..

then finally tune your guitar to th normal settings and your strings should be okay..

you should know this... mad.gif

your very right, i play slide a lil and when i was changing tuning it broke. The funny thing is, is that i was loosening the string. haha

Honestly,

I have had three sets of strings, including ultra lights, in the 5 going on 6 months I have owned my acoustic but never from breaking a string. Come to think about it I guess I have never broke an acoustic string yet, only one on my old electric. Depending on your style you might go longer/shorter without breaking them. It prolly also depends on your strumming style/technique.

How do you hold your pick? If you start really "pinching" it, when your strumming you could be holding the pick too tight.

But once again it is all about the player, but those thick of strings should last...at least a month or so...at a min.
