Epiphone 1958 Explorer

Ibanez DT200 Destroyer



I've decided for my next guitar,I want a Explorer-Z looking guitar,and I want to know which of those two would be better money-wise,looks,and playability.The Epiphone Explorer looks very nice,but I hear the Ibanez DT200 plays great.


What would you choose?

well the expoler was made for heavy riffing rythem guitar(not sayibg you cant lead on it, it just wouldnt sound as good) the destoryer is can be used for both. so it depends on what you play.

My band is Classic Rock with a edge of Hard Rock to it.I play lead,and I solo.

I would get the Epiphone. I dont like those wacky designs no matter what brand they are cause they just aint pretty. I like Ibanez but the Epiphone would be better for looks and im sure it would sound good

I'd probably take the Destroyer out of the two.

yeah, the destoyer would be better for you since you are lead player, but try them both out first.

Out of those two I would definitely pick that particular Destroyer. That looks like a pretty darn decent guitar.

get the epi...becuase after a month on the ibanez you being saying ibeenhad.


any you guys ain't seen the skynyrd live videos....you would chang your mind about not soloing on a explorer hahah oh the brutality

The Explorer is awesome. i think it looks sharp and it seems to be best with rhythm and riffs but i think it also is pretty awesome for lead. i think it gives a good classic rock tone

I would say save up the extra 400 and go for the real deal, go for the gibson!

i'd get a used gibson studio explorer or the destroyer- i was thinking of getting a used destroyer- they are pretty cool .

also don't mind all this " explorer is good for riffing but i'm not sure about solos" bull s h i t, you can use any guitar for either.

if your thinking of getting an epi i'll just say that i got my gibson flying v for 200 euro less than my friend got his epi flying v- deals are everywhere you just have to find them and be ready for them- i also have an epi lp but i got that for less than i should have new also.

i'd play both and see which you prefer overall- but be aware that on ebay you can get used destroyers for good prices and most have had cool mods done- 3rd pickup mods are quite commom as some famous people had theirs like that- adrian smith for one, and i've a few with fender necks put on cheaper ones.

explorer looks better in my opinion, but try get a gibson instead of epiphone.
by the way, jackson kelly has similar style too, it might be another choice as well.
