I've played along with 'for whom the bells tolls' on the ride the lightning CD but in standard tuning it doesn't sound right, with 1/2 a step down it doesn't, 1 whole step down doesn't. Do you think it could be one inbetween these? i'm not particularly bothered about sounding like the CD but it has interested me. Cheers guys

Pretty sure that its standard tuning. (EADGBE)

In the tab book, it says it's in standard, which is how I always played it, even before I looked at the book. Maybe the tabs you got are wrong or in a different key,which is why it sounds wrong.

Definitely standard tuning as most of Metallica's songs.
Played it before and it sounds perfect so guess maybe your tab is wrong.....?

unless you've got perfect pitch or something, half a step down or a whole step down isn't gonna sound a whole lot different while you're actually playing the song, unless you're trying to play along with someone else in a different tuning, or to the cd

yeah, i know im playing it right cause its out of the art of hetfield. It probably is in standard tuning, thatx guys!

I'm pretty sure its standard tuning. Kirk is on the cover of one of the recent Guitar mags, and its got the real FWTBT tab in it. Great song too.

the tuning for this song is 1/2 step up yes i said up for standard E
