Seriously i think kirk is because he actually stayed in the band and did not get kicked out. Kirk is much better and plays alot harder than Mustaine did.

Dave Mustaine is 100x the rythym player kirk is, and id put them about the same for lead. BTW, Dave was kicked out because of his drinking.

daves getting kicked out didnt have anything to do with his actual playing...it was because of his drinking (there were some occasions where he drove their van totally wasted and almost got them killed) and because of his general attitude. supposedly kirk likes playing more and dave plays more to make money/show off/get chicks

All I have to say is: Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are way better than Metallica or Megadeth.

i voted for Mustaine, but i like them both. i dont know if i could actually choose one over the other, but right now Rust In Peace is in my CD player....."lucretia rocks away!"

Mustaine for sure. Mustaine was a much better player than Kirk, in both rhythm and lead. Hammett is very overrated solely because he is 'Metallica's lead guitarist', truth is I would say Hetfield owns Hammett.

i dunno for sure im not a fan of either but i like the intros to some matallica songs but after that its just annoying......"one" is the only song i like cause hte video was pretty sweet

In the studio yea.Kirk may be the worst live player...EVER!I'd go with dave,beacause Kirk's pretty over rated for no more than what he does.I mean the tapping on one is pretty impressive that it's a accurate as it is at that speed,but other than that I can't think of many wowing moments from Kirk.I think Hetfields better than both.Better singer,song writer,and arguably the best rythym guitarist in metal history(altho there are some guys in newer bands like the dude from iced earth that are pretty damn good).IMO,if I were to pick a metal mvp it'd be between James Hetfield and Zakk Wylde.They're both very capable of carrying an entire band if need be.

I dunno. I'm pretty sure Kirk was just hacking on that bit, doing pull-off's as fast as he could and pick-tapping as fast as he could to just blitz that solo.

That said, that solo was pretty kick-ass.
