I'd like to learn some songs on the mandolin but I don't know where to begin. I'm looking for suggestions or recomendations of popular or favourite songs people have, and tab's if possible.

Also, I took pictures of my mandolin but I have no way of posting them without putting them on a website. Can any one help me out with that?

Are you familiar with bluegrass music? There are many bluegrass "standards" that call for mandolin playing.

Some mandolin players to check out:

Sam Bush
David Grisman
Chris Thile (Nickel Creek)
Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band)

Also:

Mandolin Tabs

Sorry I couldn't be of more help right now, as my mandolin has been collecting dust in the closet while I've been working on my guitar chops.

Oh and for photos, you may want to try a image hosting site such as Photobucket or ImageShack

Country tabs.com has come pretty good tabs for Nickel Creek/Chris Thile, you have to register, but it's free.

Also check out Drew Emmitt. IMO the best Mandolin picker around right now. I've seen him live a number of times and am blown away by it every time. He played with Leftover Salmon for a long time, and now has his own band, The Drew Emmitt Band (co-incidentally, the guitarist that he is playing with now, Tyler Grant, is absolutely phenomenal).

Galway Girl by Steve Earle is a fairly simple tune, but seems to get punters dancing.....mandolin led. The Steve version is always brilliant, but here in Ireland every half-bit moron with a guitar plays it and it wears very thin. But get it right and it's a great tune. I'm just offering this, as people are jumping into Chris Thile already etc... which is starting at the top

In that band are Donal Lunny, bouzouki, Sharon Shannon, accordion, John McSherry, whistle (plays Uileann pipes too), Ray Fean, drums, Arty McGlynn, acoustic guitar, Nollaig Casey, fiddle, Lloyd Byrne, perc. stunning musicians that I've had the pleasure of working with over many years
