you'd think a piece of equipment made to emulate a drummer would be as easy to operate as a real drummer!

You think a real drummer is easy to operate? You must not have dealt with many drummers wink.gif

I'm between two major music universities. The drummers around here are not only musically literate but scarily good.
Just an idea... Not an actual serving suggestion.

Im partial to Cool Edit Pro cause of its simplicity

I love Cool Edit Pro...it can get pretty complex when you want it to though.

I use COOL EDIT PRO. It records very well and does what I need w/ a very small learning curve. You can make some pretty decent recordings.

I have been recording lately and it is a whole different setup for tone and such. Your "live" setup will sound like crap recorded unless you have the proper mics, amount of mics and proper venue to record in, but for the home recording artist, I have found recording straight in gives you a better, cleaner, "truer" sound than if you were to try to record your guitar w/ an average mic sitting in front of an amp.

The real learning curve is to apply effects to your guitar after the fact.

I've got Pro Tools LE but I have to say that Sony Acid 6.0 is a breeze to use and really powerful. It will run as a plug in to Pro Tools and will control Melodyne Studio using Melodyne as a plugin. A lot of times I'll throw stuff together quickly with Acid and then finish it off in Pro Tools. I also use Adobe Audition but mainly I use the Adobe Audition Loops with Acid.

Should try out Reaper if you want something that is shareware, you can get an expanded version for a small fee, made by the same guy who designed the last version of Cubase, only he did not like that it costs so frigging much. It also runs on pretty much any computer and works with most USB recording devices.

Anyone know a good transducer? I want a cheap one, it needs to... fairly good, but not professional by any means.
