That really does look pretty badass. The "I Am The Walrus" sequence looks particularly fun.

I suppose there's lots of Beatles fans, lots of video game fans...it sort of makes sense...but I don't know, the Beatles never struck me as being showy rock and roll enough to work for this sort of game...in the glammy posey OTT way that makes rock star bedroom fantasies fun when you're 14

Uuuummmmmmm...

How does that look fun? It was just a bunch of images. I'd be happy to just download a few Beatles songs, I don't need or want a whole games worth.

I wonder how the multiple voice tracks work though. Will we all have to lean into one microphone like they do on stage sometimes? Will we have multiple headsets hooked up? Could be awesome, could be awkward.

The harmonies work with three different microphones. That will be cool to try out, especially if they put in some of the really complex harmonic songs like "Yes It Is" or "This Boy".

Thats kinda why I don't think it will be all that great. Now Guitar Hero: Van Halen, there is some showboating rock and roll, plus a lot of people would have trouble mastering the vocals. Though one of the new things with the Beatles version of Rock Band is that 4 people can sing into the lead vocal mic for harmonies and the 2nd guitar player can do vocals as well if you happen to have 4 people and a couple of microphone stands. I guess they want to emulate how the band did things from a singing perspective because everyone in the band sang on songs even if it was just harmonies.

Van Halen's all wibbly-fret-wanking-crap though. No variety. It's good to have a few songs like that in a game, but there'd be no variety. And anyone who doesn't think the Beatles could do "showy rock and roll" should watch their Shea Stadium performance. OK, they didn't have a 50-foot dragon breathing fire or anything, but it's a phenomenal performance in front of a then-unprecedented crowd.

The game historical value is questionable. They didnt play Taxman at the Budokan and Ringo dont play drums on Back in the USSR. Anyway looks like a nice game but I'd prefer a Beatles pinball in my living room biggrin.gif

Its tempting and that would be my first intro to computer game! But on 09 09 09 my wallet will suffer for something else: the long awaited reeditions will come out that day. Mmmmm.

I don't get the appeal of the remasters. The originals sound fine to me, and the new ones wil no doubt sound strange to my ears.

Mono is the way they were meant to me heard up to '67. Listen to pepper's in mono the difference is incredible. To be honest most of the stereo CD reeditions of '86 were crap. It was done without care.

Well, I don't have the cash to buy the new ones in any case. Maybe if I win the lottery before then I'll consider it.

My priorities are on: Rubber Soul (the present reedition is aweful) Revolver Help! Pepper's Please please me With the Beatles and Beatles For Sale the 2 Past Masters (at last the singles in mono damn it.) Yeah, its gonna cost.
