OK, so we've established that both our countries are mental. Sometimes, though, the insanity is logical and rational. We have a monarchy because of centuries-old tradition, although after so many reforms they're reduced to basically being for show (it's all part of Brand Britain). We're not going to abolish them, because 1) it'd cost us more than it'd save, 2) they bring in loads of money in tourism, 3) it'd be a pain in the ass to rename or reform all of our institutions, 4) we'd have to make someone President, and no-one wants to make unpopular politicians even more powerful, and probably many other reasons.
I can't defend inherited wealth and privilege, but it doesn't keep me awake at night. The issues mentioned about the US are far more pressing problems than the presence of a useless family with no chins and webbed feet. At least we wind their windows down and poke them with sticks.
So you've managed to make us level by saying we're both mental, but then subtly condescend to us by saying we're just a little bit more mental
