It's about that time of year when I start making plans.

Blues and I are going back to NZ in 2012. He and I plan to be there indefinitely. however, I think a few of you might enjoy two weeks there. This thread is about gauging interest. seeing who might want to go with us for a few weeks.

It would be a road trippin two weeks covering both North and South Island. I think aside from airfare you'd want to secure yourself 1.5k USD to be comfortable. however it can be done on less.

Give it some thought.,,, Im looking to travel in May-August

spelunking, skydiving, land luge, Cathedral cove, kayaking, Glaciers, Fjords.. hiking, camping, etc....

A man goes to the doctor. Says he's depressed. He says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. The doctor says "The treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him, that should pick you up." The man bursts into tears. He says "But doctor... I am Pagliacci."

there seems to be an objective reality that a determined individual can penetrate if he is willing to challenge the confining chimeras of markets and machines

I promise to itinerate an unforgetable North Island experience. Oh the fun we will have ^_^ North island is full of the most beautiful beaches youve ever seen. Lots of fun stuff to do and see. I will beat you all at luging down the mountain at Rotorua. So dont feel too bad about that when it happens.

South Island is magical, I've only been there for holiday purposes once, and it was one of the funnest trips ever! Queenstown and its surroundings (milford sounds, Wanaka etc) - its all very memorable. Major and Matt can back that up.

Spelunking, more widely known as cave exploring or Caving. Derf is hip to caves, but no. Forgetting the fact that I'm a deadbeat do-nothing artist who will die in Cowtown, I will likely have zero funds for such a thing, and just as well, will have no control over who(Em) I might(will) come on to when drunk, and who I might scrap with(Major...or maybe Bluesy. He does have that accent I crave so much and will never have)) in a fit of rage at the rejection.

It's better that I stay far away from you all. Hell, Christian and I live in the same friggin city and we've only met the one time. He knows. He'll tell you. Stay away from Derf.

Because ever since I first saw Coronation Street as a wee lad, I thought "fuck, I was born in the wrong country. I belong over there where I can take the lift down to the pub and bin this Canadian accent when I get there. Maybe even pop in for a spot of tea with the guv'nor, so long as I don't slip on a cobble on the way there, or trip up on some young wankers gobshite baggy jeans. Might have to do his head in, take him to the fucking cleaners, too right, bip bip cheerio. All the while thinking "is this little sod avin' a laugh?"

Yeah...to me, every country is it's most prominent stereotype, lingo and all.

new zealand is one of my options when I finally get to do this study abroad program, so I may end up there for a good 6 months. Of course I may end up in argentina or spain instead.. But then again, I signed up to help start this Engineers Without Borders program at my university, so I may end up in the Congo or something.

new zealand is one of the few countries where it is legal to distill spirits at home without a permit, license or fees.

Milford Sound (Piopiotahi in Māori) is a fjord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, within Fiordland National Park, Piopiotahi (Milford Sound) Marine Reserve, and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world's top travel destination in an international survey (the 2008 Travelers' Choice Destinations Awards by TripAdvisor) [1][2] and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination.[3] Rudyard Kipling had previously called it the eighth Wonder of the World.[4]
