Maybe America will finally wake up and realize that if all of those people had just had guns that this wouldn't have happened.

The fact that there is a 'debate' with guns is ludicrous, and well trodden. I remember reading/hearing a quote which sums up my apathy now, approximately 'when nothing changed after Sandy Hook it was clear the battle was lost, people are fine with children being shot'. Then add in the fact that mass shootings are a tiny, tiny percentage of gun deaths the whole angle is skewed. I have problems any time emotion is used in legislation, it belies the responsibility and duty of those in power - logically there is absolutely no defense for personal firearms (except as working tools, and even then, like all dangerous machinery, should be properly and effectively regulated). Shouting 'freedom' is simply not enough.
