You'll probably like it, and if you're into dubbed versions you can hear the late Phil Hartman as a cat, which is somehow appropriate.

I personally like Kiki more than Totoro. I've watched both of them 50+ times with my kid, and Kiki is the best Miyazaki for the widest possible audience, in my opinion.. It's got better, deeper characters than Totoro, better visuals, a more linear/less abstract plotline. It's incredibly accessible for an anime film. It might not be even close to the best Miyazaki, but it's still a great film. And I mean, I could have chose the one where the raccoons have big balls. Or the one with the pig flying a plane in the 1920s, or yeah, Spirited Away, Totoro, Mononoke, Castle In The Sky, or any other of his brilliant works, but I really like the one with the teenage witch discovering herself alone in a new town.

Shawshank is vastly overrated

1. it's epic continuity spans decades

2. a story of total betray and yet still being able to find love again

3. the greatest voice in cinema as it's narrator

4. it is was a film you discovered in the video shop - soz if you missed that boat

5. good triumphs over evil

1. That's true for lots of films
2. That's a Disney film
3. That's an incidental detail
4. That's no way to judge a film's merit

It's not bad, but its rewatch value is pretty low. The story flows along nicely, which is good, but it means you didn't really miss anything cool that you have to go back and find out.
