I feel weird starting this thread because it is illegal and I feel like "they" spy on us. whatever. anyone know any good torrent sites (I only use for music). A lot of the popular torrent sites have been going down lately. Feel free to delete this thread at any given time...

For all the download Nazis here at GTU (if any): For the record, I don't download all of my music illegally. Their are a lot of bands and musicians I truly support. I support them by purchasing their albums (sometimes vinyl). Also, If I'm willing to pay to see you live, chances are I will go and purchase your album instead of illegally downloading it. But as far as all the shit hardcore bands I listen to, and all the one hit wonder type of artists I sometimes like....ye know.

Bittorrent still works if you have a VPN..

I mean.. I haven't gotten any 'cease and desist' letters lately anyway.

Time was that seeing music performed well could be a once in a lifetime experience. The heartbreaking beauty of an orchestra playing together might be a couple of hours in a life that otherwise, musically, hummed and whistled ditties that started nowhere and ended nowhere.

I think we should be aiming to get back to that. Never mind downloading; we ought to aim for an end to recording of music entirely.

I have UTorrent, and I use pirate, but I've noticed that pirate has had a lot of it's torrents taken/deleted. 50%+ of what I search for, they don't have.

See, I like what you're saying...but damn the sin of having so many songs on hand is tempting and a half. I like-a do da cha-cha.

I don't download at all really - partly because there always seems to be some trojan/virus that gets in but also because I don't really like it.

It goes without judgement or piousness, but I like having something physical that I put on, that has liner notes I can read and that I can thumb through before making my selection.  When it comes to films I love going to the cinema (although I hardly ever do now) and hate seeing something new in anything other than cinema quality and older films are mostly available on legal streaming services.

I'm just a bit boring, really.

From what I understand, the artist makes fuck all from record sales. Most of the money goes toward the record label. Musical artists make most of their bucks from live gigging.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So I never feel guilty about illegal downloading.

I download off of youtube as well, but I prefer to download albums in full. I've found each song on an album before and downloaded from youtube, then organized the songs in my iTunes. It's just time consuming. whaa

Yeah, I take the files and toss them onto a USB key and that plugs right into my stereo. Which I don't have right now because I'm driving a rusty gold Malibu.

I think Pirate Bay and other torrent sites are getting shut down and/or are getting watched a hell of a lot closer. I downloaded some music not too long ago, then I got an email warning me not to do it again. I just now went to pirate bay to download a discography, and pirate bay is telling me to hide my IP with a VPN.

I got the house all to myself today. All I wanted to do was snuggle with my dog, download music, watch documentaries on youtube, and nap.
