Congratulations on being able to travel to destinations of your choosing.

We'll see. It's a 15 gallon fuel tank and runs about 11 MPG in the city. So my destination can be work and back three times before I refuel. Probably not gonna be an every day car for long.

It does come off rather Kit-like. It doesn't talk, though. It does, for no reason I can figure out, idle down nearly to a stall when braking to a stop. The solution is to put it in neutral and rev it back up. This makes all stop lights feel like an impending drag race.

Fair comment. I have a 4spd standard in my El Camino, but I'm pretty sure I've cracked the casing as it's leaking gear fluid like Niagara Falls. This is a good back up as I can't justify spending $1500 on a new transmission after I just bought a new car.

I had an issue with idling and it was the MAF sensor. Or MAP sensor. Manifold Air Pressure.  I say that like I know what it means.

It's one of those funny things that kids with Honda Civics don't seem to understand. Basically, you need the correct back pressure from the exhaust in order to cycle through your cylinders efficiently. If the sensor is screwed up the onboard computer will do silly things and, in your case, affect the idle. My mention of kids in Civics relates to their penchant for installing large obnoxious tailpipes on a 1.3L engine, which messes with that back pressure.

My car was  Volvo s60. My wife drove it through a ford that was much, much deeper than it looked.  Fun times.

In England it's not Civics for the boy racers, it's Vauxhall Nova's.  Google it, it'll make you happy, the silly douches.

87 Monte Carlo runs something a bit different than MAP sensor - called VAC sensor. Basically the same thing but a low voltage vacuum operation. The carburetor runs a small computerized mix, but that's the only computer in the car (sorry, not Kit for sure). I'm pretty sure that if I unhook the vacuum line at idle that the car mix would become richer and that the carb would reset a code. I'm way too lazy to do that given that it really doesn't affect vehicle operation.

Fords can be deep hahaha. And that Vauxhall is really really ugly. Really? Must be dirt cheap?

They spend 3 times the value of the cars doing them up.  Nonces.

Right? Never understood the mindset that would lead you to dump a bunch of money into something that will never pay it back out. There's a dude that parks nearby sometimes that has a Chrysler 300 with what appears to be every piece of plastic trim he could find at Canadian Tire glued all over it. Oh, and a Rolls Royce fancy hood ornament.

My first car was a Pegueot 206 GRD. I loved it, it was a rugged little bastard with no electronics whatsoever (excluding the headlights), but at no point did I think about throwing money into it for no practical purpose. I knew someone who spen something like $15000-20000 on doing up a Renault Clio (look it up...that'll give you a real kick).  I pointed out for the same money they could have bought a second hand BMW 3 Series, but that was ignored.

Kids!  *shakes fist*
