So in May I was in two car accidents.

First one a dude in a BMW texting and driving blew a stop light and T-boned my '03 Malibu. If my girlfriend hadn't swerved at the last second the impact would have been directly into her door. Luckily the corner of his car caught the post in the frame square: my car bent in half and the window exploded in our faces, but we were not badly injured.

Ten days later a woman behind me was texting. I watched her the entire way into the back of my '79 El Camino. She had maybe $5500 in damage. She crushed her bumper, her hood, knocked out the alignment of her front end, and I have no idea how her airbags didn't deploy. I had no damage (fibreglass and plastic meet chrome and steel), so I angrily advised she stop texting and driving and pay attention. I did a pretty sweet burn out as I left her mostly crippled in the middle of the road.

So I bought a dashcam. It's super sweet. It records from two lens, one of which swivels any direction I like. My new plan is to record drivers texting, post the videos to twitter, and tag the police. I'm not sure what it will accomplish, but I need an outlet for my barely containable rage whenever someone is texting and driving near me. I've nearly gotten into some road-ragey fights with people a bit bigger than me.

Do you have a dashcam? Get one! Later I'll post some sweet videos.

So I filmed a dude texting in traffic yesterday. While at the light I gestured to suggest as such. He rolled down the window and asked, "is that a joke?". I asked if it looked like a joke and informed him I would be uploading to twitter and tagging the police.

He ended up chasing me down and yelling that I was, "doing a great public service" and thanking me. Sincerely. Not even a hint of sarcasm.

It was very gratifying.

Getting yourself a dashcam will probably save you a ######ton of money in the long run. But I personally get a chuckle watching dashcam videos on YouTube.
"You don't even know Tara, so how woulld you know he's cooler than her? I like Gus, but he sure as hell has nothing on Taz, she's much cooler than at least 90% of gtu, and just as cool as the remaining 10%"-soulcracker

It's pretty sweet. But mostly it has recorded me breaking down over the weekend so far.

PS WELCOME BACK

The worry I would have of getting a dash cam would be watching it back and realizing I'm a horrendous drive. I enjoy the bubble of ignorance.

Had someone in Nova Scotia driving like a fool around me last week until I pulled it out. That backed him off pretty quickly.

Ha. You're getting Dashcam Fever. It's like Gun Fever but not quite as exhilarating.

Pulling it out while driving can cause accidents. Just trust me on this one.

You were in NS and didn't let me know? I have tons of beer and wine to share.

But not with jerks who don't visit when they are nearby :(

Why aren't you on my facebook? I put out a message to everyone to let me know if they wanted to get hammered!

Don't worry, I will be back.

That said, I was everywhere in NS. Crossed in on ferry from PEI, across the Cabot Trail, back down to Antigonish, south along the coast to Halifax, up the middle to Wolfville, back down to Spryfield/Halifax, up to Stewiacke and back into NB. Great province. Great donairs.

Where are you? Halifax?
