I just got a cd burner for my stereo and I was wondering what coaxial and optical in's are. It has those inputs and the only input I'm using now is the analoge in and I was wondering if I could plug my microphone into one of those or could I do it through an adapter or could I run a cable from my computer and burn songs I've recorded there onto a cd through one of these inputs. If not what are these? Thanks!

Coaxial and optical in's are both forms of digital inputs so you cannot plug your mic directly into them. Well, you can, but, it won't work. 
You will find coaxial and optical outs on digital machines like mixers, dat machines, other CD players etc. and these outputs and inputs provide full digital transfers between these machines, without considerable loss of quality.

Some do, some don't. Check the back of your computer for a socket that looks exactly like the one on your burner. If it has it you'll then need and optical cable , available at your local hi-fi or computer store.
