Yes, and it's a side of him that I enjoy. He's already proven his technical ability quite well, and he still shows it quite a few times on this album (of course), but he's made it about the feeling of the music, not the speed at which his fingers move.
Not that I think he was ever too bad about that anyway. Far more tasteful than others whose names I won't mention... but the initials are Yngwie Malmsteen... oops.

I don't think all these technologies finding their way into guitars is necessarily a good thing.

But if I guy from Gibson walked up to me with one and told me it was mine for free, no strings attached, I'd be all over that...

You can go ahead and remove it, since my new one says that the whole album is excellent, except for "All My Life."

Let me guess.... reading the new review for it in my blog brought this around?
Feel free to swap them. The new one's way better than this one.

(I've always wanted to get a double-cutaway hollowbody and stick a EMG 81-85 set on it. My theory is that I'd be getting ungodly sustain.)

A good hollowbody can deliver almost infinite sustain at higher volumes. (To some, that can become a problem because they can't "control" their guitar sometimes which can then easily turn into massive feedback.)

I have a feedback problem sometimes, but on a stage where I'd have more room, that wouldn't be as much of a problem. In our jamming room where I stand no more than 5 feet away from my 100W amp and am playing over a drumset, feedback happens a lot.
