Gilmour is the closest to what I like so I guess thats my vote.
You left out quite a few whom I would of rather offered up my vote to.

Rory in, Dimebag out huh.gif Okay, Jimmy Page. Fast, tasty, ahead of his time, and his sh!t still kicks the hell out of most the stuff out there today. When you stop a song in it's tracks so you can lay out a scorching solo-that's good(Heartbreaker). Honorable mention to Hendrix-that dude was just nuts! wink.gif

I've been here since 11/06/01 and I've never been a GTUer of the month. It's 08. I rock.

there is no such thing as the best lead guitarist; sure some guys write and play awesome riffs, but some guys put on good stage shows, write great songs, made the bands great...

I'll continue to say that polls suck. No matter how offical it is you left out alot of good choices included some bad ones. If your going to leave off malmsteen you could at least include becker who could smoke half of these people.

This poll is useless then. If your trying to put up an officall greatest guitar poll then do it by skill leval and technicall ability. Not by people opionions and which guitar player was mentioned the most. The poll is more like the best most mentioned guitar poll.

But the greatest guitarist isn't the most technical. Sure Becker could blow all those guys away for chops but could he write a song like most of those guys up there? No. I'm a big Becker fan (he's been part of my sig ever since I joined) but he doesn't compare to half of those as a complete guitarist.
