I'll continue to say that polls suck.  No matter how offical it is you left out alot of good choices included some bad ones.  If your going to leave off malmsteen you could at least include becker who could smoke half of these people.

Did you even read the post?? These are the people who got the most votes by GTU'ers. If you didn't list your top 5, tough shit, but you can't complain !

My vote: Slash cool.gif

This poll is useless then. If your trying to put up an officall greatest guitar poll then do it by skill leval and technicall ability. Not by people opionions and which guitar player was mentioned the most. The poll is more like the best most mentioned guitar poll.

The definition of "greatest" varies from person to person. You think it's the one with the most technical abilites, I think it's the one who can come up with cool riffs/licks and put his heart into it.

Like khammett said, very few of the people on that list could be compared to Becker in technical ability, but I still think Slash is a better guitarist.
Skill means nothing if you can't make something that sounds interesting.

It's not the "most mentioned", it's the poll that will decide what guitarist is the most liked on GTU.

When asking people to nominate their five guitarists I asked them to select them from technical ability and creativity. If everybody listed the guitarists which in their opinion best possess those attributes than this is the fairest list discernable on an internet forum. Trust me, almost none of my favourite guitarists made it up, but thats my problem.

He was (and still is) an Irish legendary guitarist who could play the blues like no one else could, and was a king of the acoustic too. He is sorely missed ...

First off, i have to say, there is no Frank Zappa. The poll should mention all guitarist mentioned in your previous thread, or pre-poll.

Ok, @ E§phil, all polls are subjective to personal opinion

My vote goes to Jeff Beck biggrin.gif Because he could smoke Page, on skill, and creativity..................OH yeah, he don`t use a pick either tongue.gif

0ne of my personal little complaint is the absence on Mr Neil Young. To be fair i did
not nominated him, but yet ...

Alright Hendrix and Clapton are neck to neck, and Page seems to take the lead. Interesting ...

It seems ridiculous that Van Halen can get more votes than Petrucci, Rhoads, Satriani, Gilmour and Beck. In fact it seems ridiculous that he could get any votes at all blink.gif
My reasoning - The guy has no sense of melody and his solos really don't fit the songs. Not the ones I've heard anyway. As for Eruption, that is a very mediocre show off piece. Compare it to Eugene's Trickbag and you'll see what I mean.
