For some reason, I have a hard time keeping my pick in my hand. I just drop it a lot. Does anyone else have this problem? And how can I stop it?

try biting down more on the pick so only the tip is exposed. put the pick in the the middle of your thumb. between the end and the joint. use a pick that has a matte finish if you can. or use a needle to scratch a grip on to it. good luck.

Alot of pick companies make picks with sand paper grips, and other textures to help you keep your grip.

There's a product called "Gorilla Snot" that works pretty good. I used to use rubber-cement on my picks sometimes (back when I used to use a pick more) to make them more "grip-able.". Try the Gorilla Snot.

Un-plugged is not the same as never-was-plugged-in-to-begin-with.

yeah, either get some with a grip, or make a grip on them. Also, i dunno if its bad for the finish or not, but you can always lickem and stickem so if you drop one, just grab another.

ive known that for a while, but i forgot about it, and then looking at nealmac's pic of eddie van halen, made me remember about it. He has several along the bottom horn of his guitar.

I'm not sure if anyone said or not, but if you hold the pick properly, I don't see why you'd be dropping it. I don't use a pick myself because I found it a bit difficult to control.

This is a profile of how you should hold the pick in your hand:

I would take the suggestion about getting a pick with a sandpaper surface though, this sounds like a good idea until you can get good control over the pick.

Good luck smile.gif

i think it might be a mental thing because when i play and really concentrate on my picking it drops it but when i'm just playing it stays in my hand even tho people might think it should be the other way around tongue.gif
