dude i dont hold a pick anything like what that picture shows..the only person i've ever seen hold a pick like that was rusty cooley..and he balls his fist too. I hold mine with my thumb and my pointer sortof curved to the point of the pick.

you can hold it how ever you want but i've never seen anyone holding it like that picture.
i dont think grip is the problem, i think its the way you strum. i remember before i used to drop it but now my struming's better and it stays in my hand.

see now i could pick with a piece of ice or soap.

I have a problem with holding onto my pick aswell. But that's because I have carpal tunnel in my pick hand. If I'm having an especially bad day with it, I just put the pick in my hand how I would normally hold it, and tape it in. Not too comfortable, but I have to play.

No they're not. Try doing 16 notes per beat with your fingers.

And as for holding your pick... get a stubby... Boss 3.00mm Stubbies are the best, they have a place to put your thumb and index finger so it wont slide out.

ive known that for a while, but i forgot about it, and then looking at nealmac's pic of eddie van halen, made me remember about it.  He has several along the bottom horn of his guitar.

You could also use the classic strip of gaffa tape on the mic stand and stick a row of picks along it

Grip it tighter or use a lighter pick blink.gif

Normally though you should be gripping it properly, if you arent than you will likely drop your picks. I used to drop mine, and I really hate fishing them out of a acoustic guitar cause its a pain in the arse. You are supposed to grip it with your thumb and pointer finger on between the two, also the more pick that is between your fingers, the better grip you have.
