OK guys, bit of an ask but what do you think?
It's gone though several different styles/layouts but all along I've been learning how to design sites on my own (self taught, like my guitar playing!)

Anyway, please tell me what you think... It's almost done now and should be ready for some serious content. If you could help, or crit the site it would be appreciated a lot. There are several sections where users can submit article/lessons/reviews etc anything would help me out a great deal.
Also, if you could all just pop your heads in the forums just to kick it off slightly that would help too!

So, back to the point. What do you think? I've already got 2 more sites in the pipes (not online yet)
- one is for a antiques shop in Much Wenlock near to where I live
- and the other is for a village parish council community website

Cheers, Rikki (link in my sig wink.gif )

Nice one! I'll give you a shout nearer the time, no point at the moment... a bit too quiet - although very good content on there if you ask me!
By the way are you on msn?

Based on what little I know about multimedia production, it seemed really busy on the first page. I had no idea where to start. There was alot of text I didn't really want to read. I stared at it for a minute or two and still don't really know what the site is about. I'm sorry if I sound like I hate the site because I don't. I just thought I'd offer some constructive criticism. Try and add bigger title or something, all the text is just frustrating and I just left. I never made it past the first page.

No worries! I need more people like you to tell me how it actually is!

I recently changed the menus for drop down types to save space linking to different pages...
But the system I use to create my site linits me on how i can arrange my homepage.... but at the same time, I want it to be informative etc...

Hmmm, I'll give it (*another*) rethink!

Thanks, RJP1

Hi Dave C,

The electric guitars and cd's aspects of the reviews section are working...
I haven't got around to doing the rest yet!

the main page needs some sort of dividers to get the sections spaced out a little, or you could have links on the main page to the different text sections which would sort the crowdedness

the whole membership thing doesn't make sense to me, why would somebody pay for membership when they can get the same service on different sites for free? at least have it free until your site grows to a large level where some of them might pay extra for added services

too much crap on the first page very overwelming, i didnt know what to lok at first
Let the pretend take over
And that season be the first
Shadows we're in become us
So we set up interspersed
Between here and away
Become your space every day

QUOTE (RJP1 @ Jul 14 2006, 11:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
look harder,

Most people won't. The layout and presentation is a bit cluttered which does make it a bit akward to navigate around your site. Unless you have a good root around, it is sometimes kind of difficult to ascertain exactly what it is you're selling in your shop and what services your site offers.

QUOTE
GuitarTools.co.uk brings the guitarist very affordable and high quality tools. These help in the day to day playing and learning of the guitar as an instrument. Novices and seasoned guitarists alike can enjoy and benefit from using the resources GuitarTools.co.uk has to offer.

GuitarTools.co.uk aims to bring to its users:

A secure shopping experience with PayPal encryption technology.
A fast and efficient service.
An easy and simple to use website.
And above all, products and tools to help you play the guitar!

Ok, taking the example above. There's a paragraph that tells us that the site offers tools/resources, what they are in particular isn't mentioned. The first three lines of the "GT.co.uk aims..." section - secure shopping, fast/efficient service and user-friendliness - are things that you'd hope would be a given on any internet site. The fourth line - "products and tools..." still doesn't make it clear exactly what you're flogging, you've then got to do some more clicking around to find the actual products.

I like it and I think you did a good job at it, but the only problem is that it is rather boring to look at. Keep working on the design of the pages and it will bring it to life more. Pretty good though.

We've got just over 50 members to the site (which is FREE to sign up to, someone said earlier that you have to pay - YOU DON'T)

Only 3 months old though, and got our Google page rank this morning! PR=4!
