Hey,
I know this is a n00b question, but how do you make this sound effect? check this vid, its 57-58 seconds into the vid, it sounds like a screatching.

A pinch harmonic is one of the trickier devices in a guitarists bag of tricks. basically you pick the string and immediately afterward just lightly touch it in the same place you picked with the edge of your thumb (downstroke) or your index finger (upstroke) all in one smooth picking motion.

To get it right you need to pick in the right place, there are some spots where it works better than others and by changing spot you can change pitch, you have to experiment with this. Lots of treble and distortion will enhance them which will make them easier to do at first, new strings helps too.

It is possible to eat cannabis seeds, and nothing else, and have a nutritionally adequate diet.

lol u noobs thats no pinch harmonic. stop guessing rolleyes.gif thats a natural harmonic. as opposed to artificial (pinched) harmonic.

what he done there is he hovered his finger over the 14th fret and picked, not actually then pulled on his wammy/vibrato/trem bar. when you "hover" its above the metal part, and not the wooden fingerboard. the fretwire itself.

it takes a while to get. be patient.

There's a pinch harmonic further into the song if you're interested in what it sounds like.

dude played that song very well, and he looked so relaxed too, which impressed me cuz usually people strain too much over a cover. He did a lot of sweep picking too, which is what satriani does a lot too. So yeah, that was a natural harmonic. He had a really good setting for the sound too. Which added to the sweet sound overall.
I am very prone to typos, sorry

Yeah, that was a natural... apparently I was beat to the punch on that one.

but... hellyea... Pinch Harmonics are not Artificial Harmonics... no no no... Artificial Harmonics, as best I can recall, is when you do something like play the second fret then get hit the harmonic above the 14th fret with your right hand.

Though, I would have to admit, if you don't yet know how to do pinch harmonics. Go learn that first. Pinch Harmonics will be far more useful to you then learning that specific effect. After you learn Pinch Harmonics we'll talk about the dimebag squeals.
