Anyone big fans of the Doors here? Gotta vid clip you need to check out:
fontana.edgeboss.net/wmedia/fontana/thedoors/thedoorsclassicclip.wvx

It's from an upcoming Doors DVD "Classic Albums." I like how they broke down "Break on Through" in the clip, pretty interesting, I think. It's supposed to come out on April 22, so I'll be looking forward to that. I'm a huge Doors fan.

Anyone else planning to get it?

Also, by curiosity, what are your TOP 3 DOORS SONGS? Mine are:
Break On Through
Light My Fire
Take It As It Comes

I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps, 'Oh look at that!' Then- whoosh, and I'm gone... and they'll never see anything like it ever again... and they won't be able to forget me- ever. -Jim Morrison - umgd

I don't care that much for many Doors-tunes, but I like "Roadhouse Blues" and "Love Me Two Times." "Light My Fire" is okay, but is much better with chemical enhancement. They are (were) much better live than they were on their recordings, which tended to get kind of tedious at times. But overall I like them.

(Breakonthroo is probably just schlepping his DVD but we'll let him go. For now.)

Un-plugged is not the same as never-was-plugged-in-to-begin-with.

I love the doors. They were great. If I had to list three...When The Musics Over, Roadhouse Blues, Celebration of The Lizard(Live version only). But I"m not counting the American Prayer album.

the doors were sweet. some of their better songs include light my fire (of coarse), crystal ship, and maybe love her madly. I've always liked people are strange as well, its a simple little number but it works really well.

The first time I heard Crystal Ship I played it for two hours straight.

Thank you. thank you , thank you.....it's about time I find people who agree w/ me. The Doors SUCK. I have no idea why the band and Jim Morrison specifically was put up on a pedestal like that. IMO, he's a loser.

I'm not a big Doors fan either, although they have done a few tunes I like and live they were much better than on their recordings, which often get to be kind of... longwinded (to be kind). But their great popularity (and they were extremely popular in their day, at one point probably THE most popular American band) has to be taken in the context of that time. There was no punk-rock, no real "iconoclastic" bands of much note (the Stones or the Who to a very small degree maybe, the Mothers were pretty unheard-of and mostly just musically-experimental anyway) and so Morrison's fukkyooall-attitude was something brand new compared to say... hmmm... Jay and the Americans or... Gary Lewis and the Playboys or Herman's Hermits, or even the Beatles (who had not quite yet even gotten to Sargent Pepper-stage). For a band in that day to be "in your face" about drugs and sex and tell Ed Sullivan to fukkoff and... whatever... wave-a-weenie on stage, was unheard of. Nowadays of course most of it would be no big deal, but in the context of that time the Doors were on the X-treme cutting-edge of a changing society.

Un-plugged is not the same as never-was-plugged-in-to-begin-with.

Well, I liked the Doors, I think James Douglas had a good singing voice, and I like most of the stuff the Doors did.

When the Music's Over, The End, and Roadhouse Blues would be favorites of mine.

Roadhouse blues is a top tune. Along with People are Strange, and Light My Fire. I was never a big Doors fan, but they have knocked out a few good songs, and Jim Morrison was a good song writer, and a good singer.
