so, it's unfortunate that in two weeks i'm moving back to London Ontario after six months in Halifax Nova Scotia. i've met some good people, and had quite a good time living by the ocean, even if i haven't made it to the water as often as i'd like to.

all of this is beside the point when i think of how many people here are making their own beer, and how it seems that only recently the friends i've made here are showing them to me. tonight i drank a brand called Propeller, and i had both their India Pale Ale, and Bitter. it's funny that the IPA was actually more bitter than the Bitter, and that i found the Bitter to be more delicious than the IPA, as normally i would order an Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale (my favourite of all beers i have tried).

do you guys, wherever you are, have local breweries that make delicious drinks i might want at some point? (Europeans, i'm sure you've got a ton, and New Zealanders need not reply as i had some of your beer and it was vile).

(i have backspaced so many times to make this legible. so much micro-brew!)

Oy. You may not love our beers, but did you visit the Mussell Inn in Takaka? They have this delightful stuff they brew on site called Feijoa Fizz. It's magical. You can drink two dozen and be falling all over yourself, but each drop tastes like the wine of angels and the next morning there's absolutely no hangover.

I'd hate to know what's in it that can do that.

Takaka is nowhere near any of those places. It's a tiny town near Nelson, the haven mostly of hippies and people in love. Feijoa is a fruit.

Well, if you walked from Christchurch, you could probably get there in a couple of weeks. But you'd be damned tired.

I don't think you can fly there. It'd be around 6 or 7 hours by bus from Christchurch.

so, considering it's about half an hour from Christchurch to Dunedin by plane, and five hours by bus, then six hours by bus to this weird place, i'd assume another twenty minutes flying time, which puts it at just over an hour, which is like twice the time from my home town to Toronto, which means walking, at my usual pace, i'd make that in less than three days or i owe you a coke.
