I like "Oh Brother Where are thou" a lot...Most of the rest of their stuff doesn't do it for me.

I like "No Country for Old Men" quite a lot, but thats not really theirs...Its just a faithful adaptation of a book, so I can't give them a ton of credit.

If I have to watch one of their comedies, in small doses I'm alright with the Big Lebowski

A man goes to the doctor. Says he's depressed. He says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. The doctor says "The treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him, that should pick you up." The man bursts into tears. He says "But doctor... I am Pagliacci."

I just want to reiterate that "Burn After Reading" was one of the dumbest most disappointing movies I've ever seen.

It was pretty disappointing...or would have been had I had even modest expectations. Brad Pitt's character made me hate the movie.

I was expecting it to be quite funny, actually.

I was disappointed.

Raising Arizona is their best.

Barton Fink is prob my favorite "serious" movie of theirs.

Overall they're great filmmakers and I think their reputation comes from consistency and ability to appease critics with classic technique and genre tributes/parodies.

I liked Raising Arizona, O Brother, Burn After Reading, Hudsucker Proxy, No Country For Old Men, Barton Fink, Fargo, The Big Lebowski....

Yeah, I guess I am a fan... Fargo is the only one I thought was really excellent from plot to acting to film-making technique, the rest are all pretty good....

I'm with Sean. (Although I wouldn't be as extreme as him). I have never been let down by a film so badly in my entire life.

I thought Raising Arizona was horrid.
And say why it never worked for me.
Something to do with violence
A long way back, and wrong rewards,
And arrogant eternity.

You have to have been to California or know people from California to appreciate The Big Lebowski.
