hey guys, been a guitar player all my life, but have always been fascinated by the versatility of the bass.so decided to jump in.
i bought a Ibanez GSR 200 @ a pawn shop i frequent.it's in really good condition,& it's lightweight.i've never liked anything too heavy.so i purchased it.
its has a compartment in the back which takes a 9volt battery, what does this do?& is it neccessary to have to play the bass.
it's got a thing called 'phat bass'what is this?
my next q is about amplification.
i have a small music room with my guitars, piano & obviously need to buy a bass amp.
i don't need anything huge as i'm not playing Madison Sq Garden, just some thing to jam along with cds etc.
i've been looking @ all the options,& so far have narrowed it down to the Fender Rumble 15 watt,Accoustic B20,& the Behringer BXL450 45Watter.
will appreciate any help & info.

The battery is for your active pickups which will help boost the low end.
