how many of you all take the time to listen an album in its entirety in one sitting? anyone make the time to just sit and listen to music anymore? i only ask because currently i am enjoying CSN&Ys album SO FAR and prior to that i listened to IRISH DRINKING SONGS by THE IRISH BALLADEERS. soon the CSN&Y record will end and i plan on listening to BOSTONs title album. i just like sitting back and listening to records, and even before i had a record player i would listen to entire CDs as well as making youtube play lists of songs by bands from their albums in the same track listing to enjoy.

am i living in a world of playlists and shuffle? where my audiophiles at?

SECOND PART TO THE QUESTION:

are there only a selected amount of albums you all listen to completion? like, for instance, are there only certain bands or albums that you will listen to in their entirety?

Albums that I listen to beginning to end quite often:

Vangelis - Blade Runner Blues
Interpol - Turn On the Bright Lights
Yonderboi - Splendid Isolation

And it's not uncommon that I'll just sit and listen to the collective works of Pink Floyd from beginning to end.

I still do from time to time. Less often thanks to those evil playlists and shuffles.

Hang on though, isn't CSNY a bit wuss music for your tastes?

Crosby, Stills, and Nash's Greatest Hits is a great collection of music. I have their first album on vinyl though, and it's really good too. It just doesn't have some of the other good ones.

Young's voice was never his strong suit. It works well in other songs though.

This is a fucking awesome song:

I will quite often listen to an album in it's entirety. I often listen to The Smiths - The queen is dead.

I had a sudden influx of music about the same time I joined here and I've never been able to catch up. There are still tons of songs that I've never listened to in my music library.

depends. some albums are designed to be taken in as a whole. some are not.

when i first get an album i will listen to it in its entirety numerous times. After a while I'll generally stop doing that and it'll filter into my itunes random playlists with the rest. A few select albums avoid this fate. Basically my favourite albums, i still listen to.

Yeah, I kinda do this.

There are some bands that I really like one song at a time, but I can't get through a whole album of them. The Black Crowes are sort of like that.

I listen to albums all the time. But some bands/albums don't warrant a full listen-through.

I never really use shuffles or playlists, never get greatest hits compilations. Sometimes I'll listen to individual songs or last.fm but that often ends up with listening to an album. Albums are just better.

Quite often I get distracted or hungry or something and decide to listen to something else mid-album though.
