I wonder how long people are gonna put up with their own governments limiting their rights. Especially now that the internet has been declared a basic human right by the United Nations.

Or at least urge people to make changes when they themselves aren't willing to do anything.

And it will use the DNS system to 'take down' the websites, meaning that people will start to use alternative DNS systems making the Internet more complicated than it needs to be. Imagine guitarzone.com loading at your house but not from your friend's computer (who had not added some extra DNS servers to bypass SOPA)
So. It's BAD, even worse than DMCA. At least DMCA allows for a counter-notice in the process. SOPA allows for unilateral action to be taken against a website without notifying the website owner before-hand.
I know the news about it is everywhere but it really is important for the future of the net. This is a big deal.

Until they expand the bill in a later stage to not only include DNS blocking but IP filters as well.Fortunately, if we have the IP of this place we can sign on even if it gets banned.

This bill is freaking scary and the US is slowly turning into Iran, only with a different God.Right. But temporary solutions are better than no solutions at all.

It's congress that needs to be fixed. Fortunately, there's currently an effort among the citizens of Montana to have our representatives replaced.

The problem with SOPA is not that it fights piracy, rather it's that GZU (and other sites) could be taken down without them even telling me/us (or allowing me to respond to any allegations). That's why it's bad. With SOPA, if a complaint is approved by a court, the website goes down. That's it! No input from the website owner is involved
Sounds like totalitarianism

Maybe they should quit fucking with our rights if they don't want us to revolt. Which is stupid, anyway. There should be a simple solution to our citizen's issues with congress. You really shouldn't have to resort to rebellion with a representative government.this is why there is sopa. protest and eventual regime change in egypt all started on the internet. sopa would be able to shut down any and all sites accoicated with revoltDon't worry. We'll revolt.

One of the problems with Montana is that it's essentially two separate states. The difference between Eastern and Western Montana is really quite a discrepancy. We Western Montanans are mountain faring folk with chainsaws and the like. Eastern Montana is comprised of farmers and wind. It's really hard to keep everybody's best interests at heart when our representatives are supposed to take care of both ends. This is all just an aside though. As far as I know, it doesn't really apply to any other states.
