ive never been fired. today i fired a guy who i thought was really cool, but it turns out he was forging documents/signatures/defrauding people. have you ever been fired? have you ever fired someone? general thoughts on that out of curiosity.

When i was a manager, i had to fire several people, i did not enjoy it, and i always felt bad afterwards. I always gave my staff as many chances as i could, and all in all i had a happy productive crew, but some folks just take the piss, do that and you are gone.

On occasion I'll have to fire someone, Normally I don't feel one way or another about it. If its to the point of termination, then its their own choices that are catching up with them.
That being said I don't get kicks off when they don't see it coming.

I've been good and canned. It was liberating for like a week. Then that pesky onset of no money kicked in and yada yada yada.

Being the exception that proves the rule. You're just changing the cadence of your voice, dude, and that's awesome.

I have no idea what I mean here. I just thought it sounded cool.

i was sacked once in the morning, I thanked the guy for the oppertunity and shook his hand (actually i was relived coz by christ it was really hard work, and my first forray in to the wonderful world of manual labour - this was really a get out of jail free card and i wouldnt have to exlpain why i didnt want to go to work at all if i simply couldnt do it). come 5 o'clock and everyone was in the pub. another labourer asked me why i'd been sacked? "coz im shit" i replied. they all laughed. the boss then took me aside and said "im giving you another chance coz i like you". so close to freedom

Never been fired, but I was made redundant twice, when both companies folded.

I fired a guy just last week. Basically, he was shit at his job, and he had plenty of warnings. He was meant to be a QS but his knowledge of pricing building materials was abysmal.
