I tried cleaning my guitar but as I opened the bottle of cleaner I smelt strong lemon. I can't use it due to allergy:( it's unused just top unscrewed so will probably take it back to store with receipt. said dunlop on it they said it's good.

I have been just wiping it over with a duster, I noticed the fretboard has some grime on it it's not anything bad really.

the guitar too has some smudges on it from over the years.

I usually naughtily wipe my guitar over with household wood 4 in 1 pledge/mr sheen on a duster."He can do the jobs I hate." and spray wd40 on strings.

 fretboard is mahogany

any advice welcome please?

thank you

had heard of using vinegar and olive olivev but wary of doing this.

I don't usually clean any of mine, no. Although I do give the fret board a rub any time I change the strings. I change them quite often though, so it doesn't get much of a chance to build up any dirt.

I would suggest using something non-silicone based, or you'll risk damaging the paintwork. In other words, don't use Mr. Sheen or the like. Most music shops sell suitable cleaner.

To clean my guitars I usually use Formby's Build-Up Remover. (A green liquid.) It removes old wax build-up and grime. If it needs to be polished afterwards I usually use Formby's 3000 Almond Luster Furniture Polish. (Which uses almond oil instead of lemon oil.)

(Not sure if those products are available in the UK or not.)

I don't think so but always bid sites who could have it, I can always ask in a DIY store for an alternative we have to have one similar. Thank you Dadfad as always. :D
