Maybe dial it down a little, perhaps just a gentle knee-capping.
You never know, maybe Arsenal will sign him.... ugh.

Well-played Liverpool, you do need to do something about Moreno though.
Like put a bullet in his skull?
Slightly harsh...
Moreno is pure Liverpool Football Club, for me. Flashes of brilliance but infuriatingly inconsistent and lets you down.
We had some great attacking play and scored great goals, but my main worry is the lack of a defensive midfielder. The continued underappreciation of Lucas is criminal. Henderson is no holding man and then we had Lallana and Wijnaldum in the middle (both attacking midfielders) - no recognised defensive midfielder on the park. It was a side set up with a "we'll score one more than whatever you score" mentality and I'm not sure my blood pressure can cope with another season like that.

I agree that Hendo isn't the man for the job. He's not a defensive midfielder. However I think Can has a future at Anfield if he can fulfill the role. He's the obvious choice at the moment.
As for Moreno, fuck him. I'm done with him. "Flashes of brilliance" is not good enough. And even those are few and far between. He reminds me of Glen Johnson doing the same at right back. Flanno is out on lone, and our only other option, Joe Gomez (who incidentally is a centre back) had a bright start at left back last season has suffered another setback and he won't be playing any time soon. If we do sell Benteke for 30ish million I think we should be investing it in a quality left back.

Mmm. It looks like Klopp is going to use James Milner there, which worries me. He's no full back.
I'm not sure about Can. He's not as quick as he could be, and has a tendency to drive forward instead of sitting protecting the back four and he makes mistakes too. He's still young though. I'd play him in a double pivot but as a lone anchor in a 4-3-3 with two central players having the license to get forward, I think Lucas is the only natural player we have for that.

Interesting tactical take on it from Jonathan Wilson

I think Lucas is the only natural player we have for that.
He's also the least likely player on the pitch to nick a goal. There's more chance of Mignolet scoring. He's also the most likely player to give away a stupid free in a dangerous area.
Lucas had 1 or 2 really good seasons with us. He's been a loyal servent and always gave it 100%. But at the end of the day he is average at best. He made the step-up from being utterly shite to being very average and people need to realise that average isn't good enough.

1) he's not there to score goals. 2) No, that's Moreno. Though you have to expect holding midfielders to give away free kicks as they're there to put in tackles and stop breaks.
I don't agree, I think he's been our most important player for years. Whenever he's brought back to the fold we look much more stable, more organised. He's left out and we have 4-3 thrillers again because we can't defend.

Hey Neal, your team made the bbc football pages. That's how you know you've made it big...

So everyone is going typically over the top about Zlatan and United. In fairness, it must be tough - if you do well people just say "well that's the very least I'd expect from you', whereas if you have bad form for any period at all they're on oyyur backs. Oh well.
Aguero still smashing them at the moment..

I always thought Zlatan was a really overaited player.

I used to think he was overrated years ago but then changed my mind. He's class and is a great signing.
I haven't seen MOTD yet but I'm not surprised at our result, given the line up. Again, not a defensive midfielder in sight. Hendo ain't a holding man and Wijnaldum and Lallana are both attacking midfielders, not really central players. The awful irony of course is that dropping Moreno, we've had to use James Milner as a left back, because we've loaned out our best left back, to - get this - Burnley. Ho ho!

Liverpool always seem to play better in the bigger games.

I'm gonna go the whole season without being nasty to a Liverpool fan.

That's because the weaker teams have a tendency to sit back and defend against us, as they know we don't have a plan B. We can't penetrate an 11 man defence, and we are completely clueless in midfield when it comes to drawing the opposition out.
Beating Liverpool is quite easy really.

I think United can be guilty of similar tactical inadequacies.

Prediction: Liverpool should win fairly comfortably tonight. Granted, it's Burton Albion, but this is why: Our lineup today includes Henderson AND Can, presumably in a double pivot. That's what we've been lacking - a defensively minded player in the middle. Hendo is no holding man.

I was flicking between Liverpool and Dundalk. Obviously I was expecting nothing less than a win for Liverpool but I was pleasantly surprised with 5-0.
As for Dundalk, I thought we were gonna do it. Getting the early goal gave me great hope. Alas, it wasn't to be. Still, Europa League group stages is fantastic for such a small club of part timers.
