#3501359 Trying to get a mortgage....

Ah yes. Well as a foreigner here in the US, I had an almighty battle to just get credit card, as I want to start building a credit score. And I've been working at bank for two years. So I feel your pain.

After all avenues were explored, I gave up on a credit card with rewards, which is unsecured. Due to basically my employer not guaranteeing a 500 card, and really why should they.

So eventually, they would accept an application for a 500 card, secured with 500 cash. The cash was only acceptable as a cashier check that they could deposit (somewhere). Two weeks later I was approved... I work for a bank, that just blew my mind.

Phoenix to New Zealand is USD 1,200 to fly. That's pretty cheap of 7,100 miles. If you were paying two bucks a gallon at pump, that trip we cost you 12 miles/gallon.

I've had cars run richer than that.

Also read some where that you guys in the UK want to have 25% females as quota on all boards of directors in FTSE by the next 10 years or something... I really disagree with this.

Directors should be selected on merit and ability to direct a company, it would create disharmony on a board from members who are there on quota and not merit, female directors will never be taken seriously as other investors or companies dont know if shes there to make up numbers or is actually a top player.

So what part of smashys opinion is wrong? The UN were too late, so instead of having ground troops there to defuse situation before it got out of hand, now the british and the US are just lobbing cruise missiles from a distance while the french are are flying in. It will work but it will be messy. Atleast the UN might be taken more seriously from now on.

to be honest woggie, usually its in fine (woggie) taste, but the last couple of days has surely shown that you really need to change the current porn source or actually get outside for a day or two. From my perspective its a bit much, I can go to other places to read that sort of stuff, neither of us need to compare sites though Im sure ;)

#3344120 Another big earthquake in Christchurch

Posted by kuger on 21 February 2011 - 10:01 PM

Me and the family are safe :) One sister was in the chch library, shes pretty shaken as she was also thrown out of bed on the Sept 4th one as well. The magnitude was a little lower than the Sep4th, but this one was only 5km down and 10km SE of chch CBD, 65 are already confirmed dead.

Was the first earthquake I heard coming, quite eerie.

Hope Julie is OK :(

I got my act together, drugged myself up to the eyeballs with a cocktail so potent that it could convince a shrew it was an elephant... and then messed up on the actual date.

Then I fixed things last week.

Then I messed things up again quite badly yesterday.

If I wasn't so acutely aware of the fact that the problem lies with me and not her, this is the bit where I'd go "women, 'ey?" and get encouraging nods from the men at GTU. In other news, now I've run out of Laphroaig as well.

And we are really acutely aware that no-matter what cliches are quoted, 3rd time a charm is a fantasy. Might as well just go and do some internet dating just to keep your mind off things, never know, perhaps another girl out there needs to get over a guy by getting under another, might as well be you for a night chum B)

how many guitarist does it take to change a light bulb...

10. 9 to say "I can do that" + 1 to actually be good enough to do it.
