Raising the action

26 September 2007 - 02:46 AM

Hi guys,

I need to raise the action on my Dean just a little it as the high E string quite frequently slips off the bottom of the fretboard and gets stuck making a very annoyng high pitched noise. I've had to put up with it for a couple rehearsals and one gig and do not want to have to put up with it anymore. I just wanted to confirm the procedure for correctly raising the action.

1) Loosen the strings
2) Turn the vertical screw(ish things, look like little cogs etc) to raise the bridge.
3) Now do I have to raise the tail piece where the ball end of the string rests at all ( to decrease the angle up to the bridge saddles)? THis is my main Question
4) Re-tune and adjust intonation

Your help will be greatly appreciated,
