The best double album!

22 August 2006 - 04:27 PM

I would have to say Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominoes. Gawd it's a fantastic albums and there isn't one filler in tha album imo. Even Physical Graffiti by Led Zep (my fav. band) can't compete with that, hell if it weren't for Custard Pie, the first track on Physical Graffiti, I would have to pick Physical Graffiti along with Layla.

Anyhow, don't you just hate when an perfect album is ruined by one bad song (at least to your taste). I just can't get over why Led Zep didn't replace the Crunge on Houses of the Holy with... say the song Houses of the Holy(it was made for HOTH anyway) or simply cut the crunge out. It would've made Houses of the Holy my fav album by far. What can I say, every other song on that album is hands down gems but still gawd I can't help but skip over that Crunge everytime I listen to the album.

String tree=essential?

Would it matter if I remove the string tree all together from my strat? (It's making tuning a pain in the ass).

Fret redressing

16 May 2006 - 12:38 PM

One of the only problems I have with my current electric guitar (MIM strat with Kinman Pickups) is that the G string loss sustain really quickly (faster than any other string especially around 12-14 fret) then i talked to a guitar tech, he says it maybe be some problem with my fretwire. I do observe that the fret wire is rather worn on the side of high strings than that of the lower strings. But if it's a fretwire problem indeed, then why don't the high E and b string loss sustain as well? Any how, i want to know if redressing the fret will cure the problem.

p.s. what is some other benefit of having your fret redressed.

What's the major difference of the two and which one is a better buy? (the tone i am looking for is creamy overdriven eric johnson-type of tone which one is better suited for it?)

Kinman Regular woodstock

01 April 2006 - 11:31 AM

There is a set of kinman regular woodstock single coil pickups in a music shop in my town that's tagged at 280 dollar canadian (or about 240 american dollars). Are they are good pickups and do u think it's a good buy?
