Sorry to hear that, Nicole. I'm not a "pet" person myself (I've never actually had one, other than some cats that decided to take refuge at my mum and dads when I was growing up), but I can only imagine it must be very traumatic.

Sadly I tend to struggle with high notes as well. We do a Pearl Jam version of Rockin' in the Free World, and while I only do main vocals on a couple of songs, I really struggle with that one. People keep saying that the best way to reach the higher notes is with experience. Just keep at it and at it, and eventually it will come. I'm not so sure though.

Good to hear it went without mich fuss. Btw I'm assuming u're the guitarist for the band?! Y'all have it easy singers really have a much scarier job, speaking from experience.

When the singer has a voice like yours, Waz, they have absolutely nothing to be scared of. True story.

I used to get nervous when I first started gigging. But not anymore. I do mostly pub gigs so the audience tends to be quite forgiving of fuck ups. Even when playing new stuff that I'm not 100% confident with, I know I'm experienced enough to improvise or "bluff" it. People generally don't notice mistakes anyway, and the ones who do (usually musicians themselves) are usually professional enough not to rub your face in it.
