Rant Time!

27 June 2006 - 11:23 PM

ok, this is kinda pissing me off, the whole "Gibson is so good!" thing. in my opinion there are plenty of guitars out there better than Les Pauls (e.g. Ibanez RG1570). I know that Les Pauls have "that" sound, but you could get that by just putting new pickups in a guitar half the price, one with a faster neck maybe? but what really bothers me about Gibsons is if you get any other guitar (Jackson, Fender, Ibanez) people don't think you're as good than someone with a Les Paul. who's with me?

Mirage Red or Mirage Blue?

i'm picking up an Ibanez RG1570 pretty soon and i need an answer to the all-important question: red or blue? also, what color pickups (DiMarzios)? thanks

Expressive Pickup

16 June 2006 - 10:51 PM

I'm looking for a very expressive pickup, something that sounds like Santana and Satriani, preferably DiMarzio. The pickup will be going in the neck, and i'm not looking for much distortion, just nice tone. any suggestions?

Pickup Project

15 June 2006 - 08:27 PM

I'm picking up an Ibanez RG5EX pretty soon, and i'm going to replace all the pickups, its a H-S-H pickup layout. i play some metal like Iron Maiden, and a lot of instrumental like Satriani, Vai, and some stuff i'm composing myself. any suggestions as to what pickups i should use? any suggestions would be greatly apprectiated. thanks

Please Help

15 June 2006 - 12:02 PM

i own a fender mexican strat with a seymore duncan hotrail in the bridge position, but lately i've been looking for a new guitar. i really like the ibanez rg5ex (guitar center exclusive) but i heard the pickups were bad so i was thinking about getting it and replacing them. people have told me its a bad guitar but i really like it, the neck is really fast and it even has a licensed floyd rose. any recommendations about getting the guitar or not, what pickups, or any different guitar to check out would be extremely appreciated
