#3504767 Losing a pet

Posted by awesem on 09 December 2016 - 12:16 AM

As you know I'm so so sorry for your loss Ian. I've been trying to prepare myself for Binkeys goodbye for a few years now but I dont think there's any way to prepare really. Its gonna hurt like a bitch. She turned 21 in Nov. I agree with Rick, to not rush a replacement, but getting a rescue kitty is a thoroughly awesome thing to do as you clearly are a caring pet parent. I hope that time is easing your hurt. x

#3497036 Why I love my job

It's not really what I want to be doing with my life, but for now, it pays the bills and it's not horrible.

#3496864 RIP WIZZYWOZZA

Posted by awesem on 17 May 2016 - 03:52 AM

That's really hard to hear Rick, so I cant image how tough it is for you and your family. My sincere condolences.

Wizzy Wozza made an awesome impression on many of us. We loved her input and honesty for the time that she was here at GTU. I remember thinking how awesome it was that you guys reconnected - it was a magical story that we were privileged to be a tiny part of.

RIP beautiful Wizzy Wozza. We love you. xoxoxo

I could lose weight. But I don't yet care enough. I could make one of those rad timelapse videos of me going from fatty to fitty. That could be fun, but I'm pending proper motivation to stop eating whatever I want whenever I want. Hmmm choices.

I have the same issue. I could slim down, but I like cheese and pasta more than I like the idea of being hot.

I always knew that you and I were somewhat kindred, mejulie. Our cats even look similar.

FYI: 2 different vets advised me to put my 20yo cat down after her stroke a few weeks ago. I was all 'hmmm...that doesnt seem right yet' and they both told me not to be so selfish and that I need to put her out of her misery instead of focusing my personal nostalgic feelings.

The third vet told me to trust my instincts, because after 20 years, I would know her better than anyone.

She has regained all mobility now and the only longterm effects of the stroke is loss of vision in her left eye. She's being mega spoiled dietary wise and she has even started RUNNING around the house again for play. She is so happy and purrs loudly all the time. She actually seems happier than she was before the stroke.

Yay for vet number 3 and yay for sticking to my gut instincts. :-)

3. Had a nice lunch with my bestie.

#3496648 The worst job you've ever had....

Posted by awesem on 10 May 2016 - 01:46 AM

The worst was when I worked in a local SkyTV branch. I had a micromanaging supervisor who once called me in for a one-on-one meeting because I was 2 minutes late one day. Yes, 2 minutes.
She said "Hi Emma. Now, do you know why I've called this meeting?" I said "not really". After her facial grimace she said "Well, Emma... today you were 2 minutes late and that is unacceptable here at SkyTV. However, I'm willing to work together with you to find a solution to this problem that we have."
She clasped her hands together in sincerity and continued on to say "Emma, tell me [pause] what I can do [pause] to help you avoid a situation like this occuring again".

I didn't punch her in her stupid face. But I found a new job pretty quickly

100% agree. It was okay. Was expecting more so was let down I think. I probably needed to be in a different mindframe when I watched it - but there were a few times I wanted to give up watching.
