Ones that got away....and one that didn't

The topic of the Mex Strat and other stories inspired me to start this topic....
Have you a story about a chance to get, buy or otherwise acquire (hopefully not steal) a guitar and you didn't do the deal, but wish you did?
I've missed out on a Casino......a Les Paul, and an old old SG something or other. All, in retrospect were big goofs on my part. Outlay in cash or trade would've been nil. Worried about bad goods or stolen goods. So whaddaya do?
I did take a 1964 Fender Musicmaster for $20 cuz it was beat and ugly with no strings and bad paint.
Took it apart and saw it was routed for 2 p/u....went to town on 2 DiMarzio's....some Stew-Mac stuff....a custom designed pickguard and a Warmoth neck....well, and I'll show a pic soon.
Anyway......got any stories?

On Elvis' Death Week and GTU History
15 August 2007 - 11:05 AM

Dadfad, Amanda and I were to meet in Memphis five years ago this week. I don't think anyone but John knew about the Elvis 'death' week 25th anniversary. Crowded scene. Anyway Trich couldn't make it......and John had something come up....so I kept the faith in Memphis for five days....HIGHLIGHT: DADFAD sent a vase of roses to Amanda's room before he knew she wasn't there...............The roses didn't go to waste.
All due to GTU
